Academics

Students choose Washington University’s Olin Business School for its “excellent entrepreneurship” focus and global learning opportunities. “The entrepreneurial focus of the school is palpable...It's almost like a filter that every class is taught through.” For many students, the highlight of the program is studying abroad through Global Immersion, ranging from two-week summer programs to semester-long exchanges with university partners around the world.
The MBA program offers five optional concentrations as well as a STEM MBA. Students can take advantage of the “flexibility to structure your curriculum,” and there are options to earn a dual degree. Students can add a second business master’s degree, or pair their MBA with a graduate degree in another discipline, such as law or public health. The program also offers an accelerated 14-month degree for students looking to graduate faster.
The academic experience is “immensely rewarding, thanks to the engaging classes and supportive classmates.” Students praise the classroom dynamic where people are encouraged to share their perspective and challenge each other, leading to a “learning environment where assumptions [are] questioned” and “decisions are made based on facts and data.” The professors “are absolutely incredible” and “know how to find the balance between academic theory and practical business applications.” As one student illustrates, “I can't quite decide on a favorite teacher because all my teachers have been fantastic and have helped me unleash my potential and discover strengths I never knew I had.”
