01. Overview

What the school is known for:

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford “is a cozy campus nestled in rural Pennsylvania” that has “the small town feel with the big city name” and “a friendly environment that encourages students to stay.” At UPB, “Education comes first. No matter the school activity, exceptions are made in order to complete school work.” Students rave about the familial atmosphere, which is “friendly, welcoming, and accepting of all types.” “My school is all about bringing everyone together and making them feel like family,” says one Criminal Justice major. This cozy campus is small enough that “you never get lost and you have a very good way to access your professors if needed.” UPB’s “small learning community” is a place “where you know almost everyone and the people are very friendly.” The small sizes of classes “are a major strength.” “The professors at this university are extremely well versed in their specific fields of study” and “are very easy to engage in for help.” One student reports that “Professors recognize when students try and reward them appropriately no good deed goes unnoticed.” The teaching methods are “interactive” and students feel “a part of the learning rather than just a fly on the wall.”

06. Student Body

What students say:

“Country town = country people” at UPB. Most students “are from the area so mostly all of us know what the area is like and how to have fun.” “A lot of people actually come from surrounding areas such as Philly and New Jersey,” one student says, while also noting that “there are many people studying abroad here or from other countries such as China.” Your typical student “lives on campus, is friendly, usually is involved in a sport or intramurals, and can get along with anyone.” “At Pitt Bradford you are a person with a name a face and people are going to know you, you’re not just a number,” a Criminal Justice major explains. UPB is an easy place to make connections, as “all students here need to do is say ‘Hi’ to another student and you can be instant friends.” “I've learned that all you really have to do is introduce yourself and find something in common with them,” another student confirms.

08. Campus Life

What students say:

“Life at school is always entertaining” at The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, although “since it is a smaller campus in a rural setting, you have to create your own fun.” For example, students enjoy “bowling for fun, or play paintball” and “people are always out and about playing pick up games of football, sand volleyball, soccer, and basketball.” “There are clubs for most majors and for a vast majority of interests from MMA to Anime to Star Wars,” one student explains. “For fun, people mainly hang out together” in this “tight-knit community.” On campus there “are a lot of activities put on by the school and by the large number of clubs” from “an open mic night to a drag show we had last year!” Off campus, “the town does have a lot of events though and that brings the college students out into the community!”
