Molloy offers a variety of graduate and doctoral programs that provide the opportunity for students to further enhance their career or take a new direction while pursuing a passion. The College's graduate programs include a variety of MBA options, as well as programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Criminal Justice, Music Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Education and Nursing.
What's New
Molloy, founded in 1955 by the Sisters of Saint Dominic in Amityville, NY, and home to approximately 4,900 undergraduate and graduate students, recently opened its new facility at 50 Broadway in lower Manhattan. The space serves as the new home of the nationally-ranked Molloy/CAP21 B.F.A. in musical theatre, and also hosts other academic programs and special events. Additionally, Molloy recently opened its newest residence hall, the College's third.
In Fall 2020, Molloy will pilot The Experiential Academy. This two-year program enables students to fulfil their entire general education requirements through hands-on, active, in-the-world learning. A unique opportunity, this program meets only one day a week on campus and uses online modules and assignments to create flexibility in the learning environment. At the end of two years, students will have completed an Associate's degree and have the opportunity to transition into most majors at the College.
The School of Arts and Sciences at Molloy College and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. John's University have teamed up to provide accelerated pathways for students to achieve their Master's degrees. The alliance permits students across 14 academic disciplines in arts and sciences at Molloy College to earn two degrees in five years, a Bachelor's degree from Molloy College and a Master's degree from St. John's University.
The College continues to expand its flexible learning options for many of its programs, so that students can take evening, weekend, hybrid or online classes. Some of Molloy's newer offerings include an online MBA, as well as a new degree completion program that will enable returning students to easily complete their undergraduate degree.
With more than 4,900 undergraduate and graduate students, Molloy has something for everyone. There are more than 50 academic programs, approximately 60 clubs and honor societies, various service opportunities and NCAA Division II athletics, providing abundant opportunities for each student to not only strive for academic excellence, but also explore new interests, pursue athletics and enrich our community.
What students say:
Although the “majority of the people commute” at Molloy, this does not seem to detract from the sense of a “very tight knit community” and “friendly environment.” At Molloy “Working parents fit in well and we have a very culturally diverse campus.” Many students at the commuter school may also fit the description of “a hard-working Long Island kid, juggling school and work and a life.” While it seems that “majors mostly stick together,” students proclaim that “All the students here are extremely friendly” and that “Students are accepted here with whatever they bring to the table.” Even though “a lot of people tend to go to class, study or hang out on campus and then go home,” students note that “there are always opportunities to meet new people at events, clubs, or through mutual friends if you stick around after classes.”
While Molloy is a selective college, admissions counselors respect each individual applicant and consider the whole student-not just test scores-when making admissions decision. Prospective freshmen must submit their high school credentials, SAT or ACT scores, the Molloy application, and a $40 nonrefundable application fee. While not required, a personal interview is strongly suggested. Entrance requirements include graduation from high school or equivalent with 20.5 units, including the following: 4 units of English, 3 units of a foreign language, 3 units of mathematics, 4 units of social studies, and 3 units of science. Those who plan to major in mathematics must have 4 units of high school mathematics and 2 units of science, including either chemistry or physics. Biology majors must have biology, chemistry, physics, and 4 units of mathematics. Nursing majors must have biology and chemistry. Cardio-respiratory science majors must have biology, chemistry, and mathematics. Nuclear medicine majors must have high school algebra and biology. Applicants lacking above requirements are reviewed on an individual basis.
A select group of freshmen are invited to participate in the Molloy College Honors Program. This program offers challenging coursework and encourages reflection and personal growth. Honors students are provided with several special incentives for participating in the program.
The St. Thomas Aquinas program may be an option for students not normally eligible for admission.
Early admission is available. Molloy admits students on a rolling basis and students are advised of the admission decision within a few weeks of completion of the application filing process.
Prospective students should submit the following to the admissions office to be considered for enrollment: a completed application for admission (the Common Application is accepted), a nonrefundable $40 application fee, an official high school transcript or TASC score report, official SAT or ACT score, and official college transcripts (transfer students only).
SAT or ACT score, and official college transcripts (transfer students only).
At Molloy, small class size, engaging and experienced faculty and renowned academic programs will help ensure your success, both in the classroom and in your professional life. Our vibrant student life program will help you make a smooth transition to our campus.
We also make it easy for you to take classes when it is convenient for YOU. We offer evening and weekend classes, many in online and hybrid formats, with accelerated schedules designed to accommodate your busy schedule.
A minimum of 128 credit hours is required for a baccalaureate degree; these courses include a strong liberal arts general education curriculum for every major field of study. Students may choose a double major, and many minors are available. Molloy has a 4-1-4 academic calendar.
Students may earn CLEP and CPE credit, and advanced placement credit is granted for a score of 3 or better on the AP exam. Qualified full-time students may participate in the Army ROTC program at Hofstra University or St. John's University on a cross enrolled basis. Molloy students may also elect Air Force ROTC on a cross enrolled basis with New York Institute of Technology.
The vast majority of students at Molloy enjoy an internship at some point in their academic careers. These real-world experiences are a crucial part of the learning process and ensure that students enter their chosen field ready to make strong contributions. Molloy's location in the New York metro region provides its students with numerous opportunities for all-important internships and clinical placements that can lead to a full-time job upon graduation.
What students say
Although it is true that Molloy College, a private institution in Long Island, is “affordable” and “community oriented,” students are also strongly drawn to the school’s “great reputation in the field of nursing” as well as “amazing education program.” For business majors, the Business Honors Program features “faculty members [who] are former CEO’s and Wall Street Executives.” Students point out that “Molloy is an institution that is growing in size but has not lost any of its small school charm.” Contributing to that charm are Molloy’s “small student to teacher ratio,” “a relaxed and comfortable environment to learn,” and “personalized service centered around students.” Another of the school’s assets is the high caliber of its “extremely caring” and “truly knowledgeable and passionate” professors who are “very dedicated in helping the students reach their maximum potential.” One student raves, “My professors have real world experience and provide valuable networking capabilities.”

Molloy is located on the South Shore of Long Island in Rockville Centre. Its proximity to New York City, just a short train ride away from the 30-acre campus, enables students to benefit from the cultural and social opportunities that Manhattan has to offer. Molloy's location in the New York metro region provides its students with numerous opportunities for internships and clinical placements, critical for students in landing their first job upon graduation.
Molloy College also offers off campus locations for study at the Suffolk Center in East Farmingdale and at area hospitals and schools, all designed to provide convenience for our graduate and continuing education students. Molloy recently opened a new facility at 50 Broadway in Manhattan's downtown Oculus District. The new building houses the Molloy/CAP21 theatre arts program, in addition to hosting a variety of lectures and other academic programs.
Campus Facilities & Equipment
What's New
The College continues to find new ways to help its students grow. In recent years Molloy has added a number of new facilities, including two residence halls, a student center and a performing arts theatre, all of which enhance the student experience. Additionally, Molloy recently opened the Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing to support its nationally ranked nursing programs. A new residence hall is scheduled to open in Fall 2019. Molloy's most recent addition is in lower Manhattan in the Oculus District, where the College recently opened its new home for the Molloy/CAP21 theatre arts program.
Molloy is a wireless campus and our computer labs house more than 325 PCs. Also, many departments have their own computer labs with state-of-the-art equipment.
The James E. Tobin (JET) Library is the center of academic research on the Molloy College campus. Beyond the library's physical collection of books, media and periodicals, it also provides 24x7 access to over 250,000 ebooks as well as full text to over 170 million articles contained within its 80+ subscription databases. The facility itself contains reference computers, three classrooms, a media center and designated areas for both group and private study. The Information Commons, located in the Public Square, offers an additional 40 computers as well as four study rooms that can be reserved in advance. Reference services are available to both on campus and remote researchers in a variety of ways, including a chat service that is available all of the hours the library is open. Additionally, the Public Square provides numerous music studios, for both individual and group study.
The Wilbur Arts Center features art studios, a cable television studio, and the Lucille B. Hays Theatre. The school also has six science labs, a language lab, the education resource center, new state-of-the-art nursing labs, and a behavioral sciences research facility.
Off-Campus Opportunities
Molloy students are also instilled with the belief that they can make a difference beyond the classroom. As part of Molloy's tradition of service, students become involved in projects that help underserved populations in New York City, New Orleans, Puerto Rico and Haiti, to name but a few locations. Through the College's international education program, students seek enrichment and greater understanding of the world by participating in trips to Europe, Japan, South America and other locales around the globe.
What students say:
As a largely commuter school, there’s a sense at Molloy that “there isn’t really any college life there.” Students point out that “Life in school is very basic if you are not involved in a team or club.” According to one student, “Since many people commute to and from campus, the party scene tends to be at the sports houses and clubs in the surrounding towns.” This social dynamic may change with the addition of “new dorms that house about 200 students.” Another game changer is the new “student center known as the public square.” “Right now, a simulation room is being installed in the Public Square so that students can play video games on their free time on campus.” Until that day arrives, there are “book sales, holiday galas, special dinners, clubs of all kinds, sports, art events, presentations at the new theater, and…a variety of community services” that can keep students entertained. Students also attend rugby or basketball games and take advantage of the “free shuttle that goes to the mall and back on weekends if you live on campus.”
