In 2020, Marymount became the first higher education institution in the Commonwealth of Virginia to be designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). The University is also one of just three higher education institutions in Virginia to partner with TheDream.US, the nation's largest college access and success program for Dreamers, as it seeks to provide a safe and welcoming home for all students.

Marymount is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), with specialized accreditation for many of its professional programs such as Business Administration, Health Care Management, Interior Design, Physical Therapy, and undergraduate and graduate programs in Education and Nursing.
