What the school is known for:

Huston-Tillotson University is a private HBCU located in Austin, Texas, offering degrees across the College of Arts & Sciences and School of Business & Technology, as well as an alternative teacher certification and academic programs for those looking to pursue post-graduate degrees in law and medicine. The Center for Academic Excellence offers services that help students catch up and get ahead in their academic experience, while the W.E.B. Du Bois Honors Program is available to students of exceptional academic ability and curiosity, offering specialized honors courses, retreats, scholarships, and seminars. The Downs-Jones Library holds subscriptions to more than 350 periodicals, and is a member of TexShare, which lets students and faculty check out materials from other member libraries. All students are paired with an advisor with whom they spend at least two hours a week in their first-year seminar courses, as well as a peer mentor during their first year, and and, for text-based projects, a guide via the Writers’ Studio.
